In a few weeks I am planning to ride Colockum Pass to Ellensburg from Wenatchee, with a different route for the return. This is the old route between the towns. Dirt, rock, topping out around 5700' (Wenatchee is ~650')

Thinking of leaving late Friday afternoon and getting well up the pass before camping. Riding into Ellensburg for lunch and resupply. Getting back into the hills for the night. Arriving back in Wenatchee Sunday afternoon.

Company would be welcome.

Sounds like a cool ride. I'm guessing its all clear (snow) over the top of the ridge by now? I have a route planned from my place at Hyak to my Dads in Wenatchee up and over Liberty-Beehive. Hoping to give it a go soon.

Likely still some snow. If you don't go you don't know. It is part of the adventure.

Where are you, DP?

I found a 1962 newspaper article about Colockum Pass and its history.

Exactly shiggy! I'm over in Auburn but have a new condo at Hyak. Needless to say, my head hurts from looking at maps of gravel roads in the area. [smile]. I used to live in Wenatchee from 91-01 (with a side trip to Yakima for a few years).
