Hey there, I was wondering if there are any forum readers/writers that are riding a Trek Checkpoint SL6 or a Specialized Diverge Expert.....If so, does anyone have experience attempting to run larger than 45c tires (tubeless) on either of these bikes? I believe that each company touts that their bike has clearance for up to 45c tires, but I've heard "unofficially" from a credible source that the Checkpoint can accommodate some tires that are rated as 2.0's. Anyway, the point is I'm trying to determine what's the widest fast rolling tire I can put on one of these two bikes. I'm not particularly concerned about mud clearance since I ride mostly gravel roads that on sandy soil (MI).

Thanks!

Are you talking about a 2018 Diverge Expert?  I have that bike and it will fit 700x43 tires, but if you want extra clearance for mud I wouldn't go wider than a 700x40.  I'm currently running 700x38 Gravel King SK's but I was able to fit my 700x43 Gravel King SK's on the bike without a problem.  Again - I wouldn't say there's much room for mud clearance with that size tire on the bike.

If you drop down to a 650b wheelset, you can comfortably run 650x47.

i have the cabron comp version (same frame) with the 38mm trigger pro on.

43 i can believe that the space for mud is minimal.

but a 45mm would be real hard on a 700c wheel if u want clearence

Take a look at the Norco Search XR. I can fit 700x45’s and also 650bx2.1 with ease.

I have a 2018 Diverge Expert and on the SLX24 wheels it came with, the 42c Sawtooth (Slicks) BARELY fit and rub if you're over about 150# or if your air pressure is less than 60psi. 40c is the largest tire I would put on there for off-road riding. 45c is no chance, if you're talking 700x4

This is the Norco Search vs the Trek Checkpoint SL6(behind)
I thinks there is a little difference in BB high. But you can solve this problem with a shorter cranck of 5mm.
I’ve read the review on the Trek site and by Polecam they have customers that fit 700 x2.0 and 650b x 2.2. But i have not seen pictures.
Does someone have pictures of a 700x2.0 or 650bx2.1 or more?
