I'm in Indiana, PA. There seem to be more and more gravel events in PA, such as the race in Confluence last weekend (I couldn't make it, unfortunately). When it's gravel around here, however, you know it's going to be steep as well!

If you're close PM me -- there is one very nice gravel route close to Indiana.

Live Mid Central here. I guess you heard of the Unpaved ride/race this year. I thought the fees were a little bit high maybe another year.

Chinese gravel frame and wheels? How is that working out so far?

Here are two gravel race routes I did near-ish Freeport earlier this summer:

If you like to travel around the state some here is a free gravel ride around Mt. Gretna area end of this month

I have done a roadie ride there and know there are some hills so should be a fun ride.

The Chinese gravel frame has been great for my 225 pound mass, but the wheels rode a bit harsh on single track so I switched to a Stans Arch/Flow combo. That pic was taken at the bottom of an awesome trail in Pittsburgh at Frick Park. Very fun on a gravel bike!

I got the frame from a middleman seller on Pinkbike, paid 630.... but the same frameset is available on eBay for 525. Tideace cx-039 or something. The newest one is flat mount but mine is standard mount and STD. thru axles. The bike is good, but the toe overlap is bothersome and I had to knurl the seatpost clamp...

UnPAved (https://www.unpavedpennsylvania.com/) -- 120 miles in Central PA. I wanted to go, but didn't register soon enough.

Next week is Iron Cross, which I did last year -- pretty awesome, but a good amount of singletrack with the fire roads and gravel.

I thought I saw in the news media that they had somewhere in the range from 550-600 riders in the unpaved race. With those high entry fees I was really surprised especially for the first year out. They must have drawn a lot of riders from the big cities like New York and Philly.

$100 for basically a day of stuff really isn't that much. So, I'm not sure about the "big cities like New York and Philly" thing.

I think if you go over to gravelcyclist they did it and will either have a video on it or a ride report. Look thru their racing thread on the upper left. You might have to scroll back awhile.
