Hey all, I'll be in staying at Stratton Mt. in late June while my wife attends the Wanderlust Festival. I'm planning on bringing my cross bike with me because I remember a lot of dirt roads from being there 4 years ago. Does anyone have any specific loops or resources to recommend? Thanks in advance! 947-20160625-DSC_3277-XL.jpg

I can't offer any specific routes in the Stratton area, but I was out there last year for D2R2 and Vermont Overland Grand Prix.  Both excellent events and the riding in the general area was phenomenal.  If your on Strava, I would suggest doing an activity search for Stratton.  Another option with Strava is to use the global heat map and zoom in on the Stratton area to see where others have ridden.  Good Luck.

Here's a few possibilities. As far as I know these roads are in good condition. The one that might be iffy is Forest Service Rd 341, otherwise known as the International Paper Rd. It's closed to vehicle traffic and, as far as I know, not maintained so there may be a washout or two. I did it 2 years ago on a monster cross bike and had a great time. Enjoy your visit to Stratton.

I live right at Stratton and know every single bad road in southern Vermont!  I just started this company and can take you on any ride for what ever level you want.

Thanks for the great info, had some gorgeous rides around the Stratton area. Managed to nearly tear off my rear derailleur on the old Forest Service road on the backside of Stratton on my first day but was able to find a replacement in Manchester the next day. Next time I'm bringing some industrial-strength bug repellent as the black flies feasted on me.
