Hi,

This is my first post on the Riding Gravel forum and I am new to gravel riding.  A couple of months ago, I totaled my motorcycle and my wife and I agreed that my motorcycle days are behind me for now.

So, I decided to purchase a 2015 Salsa Vaya.  I purchased the bike about 2 months ago and have been using it to commute 12 miles roundtrip to/from work in Denver.  I have done some solo paved and gravel riding as well for fitness.

Are any of you out there in the Denver interested in doing some day gravel rides in the Denver area?  I am 38 years old and am in good fitness condition.

Best,
Ross Borgida

Hey Ross,
I'm currently looking for a new bike, but I'd be down to explore some dirt around the Denver metro area, I can use my X-Fire, until my new bike arrives. Let me know if you're still looking for people to ride with, since this is over a year and a half old...

Cheers!

Hey, 38-years here too (though this thread is rather old) [smile]

I'm looking for people to ride with also, and looking to assemble some fun epic loops with maybe an overnighter or two this spring. I live south o' town but work in Littleton. I try to ride several times a week and getting in better shape this year has been quite rewarding.

From yesterdays ride, I hit up all sorts of new gravel, for now the X-Fire is proving to be a great tool.

Bumping this thread - I'm looking to do a decent ride this weekend, if anyone is interested, here's the loop I'm planning:

Not to compete with your ride (how can you compete with Switzerland Loop?), but happening on Sunday is the Weld County Waltz, the second to last ride in the Fort Collins Winter Ralleye series. Meet at 7:30 at the Bean Cycle in Fort Collins. Loop is about 80 miles.

Here's a map from last year, this year's ride is the same except it finishes at Road 34 Bike Bar.

Looks like some good gravel roads, if I wasn't recovering from being hit by a car, I would totally ride both days, but I'll have to pass on the Sunday ride. Do you guys have a spring/summer/fall series as well, I'm trying to find more people who like riding gravel?.

There's no other series up here. There are some one-offs sometimes. I could see organizing (well, picking a date on the calendar) a fall ride over Pennock Pass.

How'd the winter ralleye go? I have to admit that the Switzerland Trail from Gold Hill down to 4 Mile was pretty rough, kind of wish I had some suspension or flat bars to hold on to, but was still a really fun time. Also, Google lies, it was more elevation and more mileage, but I did it in an hour + less than what it said it would take me. I would highly recommend that loop, as it was just good fun!

Cheers!

It was good, there was somewhere around 30-40 riders. It got windy later on (no big surprise) and if you were running tubes it was a bad scene (goatheads, again no big surprise). But the weather was nice and the refuel stop at the biker bar in Pierce was a nice treat. There's some pictures on Instagram under the #winterralleye hashtag.

Hi, I live up in Firestone (just east of Longmont) and I'm also looking for people to ride gravel with. I'm planning on riding 50-100 miles on Saturday the 25th on the gravel roads around Firestone. I haven't finalized the route yet, but anyone who would like to join is welcome.

Nice turnout, I really wish instagram made it easier to view photos... Looks like I'll have to commit to making one or two of those this next winter.

@Jbrothers - it looks like Saturday is the only nice day this weekend, so post your route, I may try to tag along for all or most of it.

Cheers!

@mr_slow I haven't set a route yet, and I may have to scrap it if we get as much snow as they say we might. Below is a 60 mile route I do from the King Soopers in Firestone. If I end up riding it will likely be some version of this route. Let me know if you're interested in joining.

Thanks for sharing the route, I don't think I'll be doing a whole lot today, was out till 2 this morning for my founder's retirement party... Let me know when you do this again, hopefully I can make it next time. If you do ride today, enjoy!
