I’ll be running a Shimano Ultegra 6800 crankset (50/32) with RS685 shifters. I’m switching over parts from my focus over to a gravel bike. The current clamp on derailleur (6800) isn’t compatible, I need a braze on. I’ll be swapping the rear short cage derailleur with a medium cage.

Should I go with 6800 replacements? Or, will R8000 derailleurs work with the RS685 shifters and if so, would they be a better option?

Thank you for any help

I switched to r8000 front derailleur because the arm of 6800 model rubbed on rear tyre. Same shifters as you. Works great. Plus, L and H adjustment screws are hex-type, and there is a built in cable tension adjuster which I really like.

I appreciate it.  Did you go with the r8000 in the rear as well?

I was happy with my 6800 RD so I didn't feel the need to change it. I did, however, replace L and H screws on it with hex screws.
