I am leading an AMC gravel ride in Greenfield NH starting at 10AM on Sat. 4/28. The ride will cover the last 10 miles of August Rose Mountain Rumble, plus another 10 miles or so of choice unpaved town roads and trails. If you are interested go to http://activities.outdoors.org/search/index.cfm/action/details/id/105820&act=2 for more information. Note that this ride has no registration fee and is open to non AMC members. Also note that there is no support. Riders must supply their own emergency repairs, and any food or beverage during the ride.

I'm cancelling this ride. Due to the late notice, and sketchy road conditions, no one signed up. I'm neither surprised, no disappointed. Any of you New Englanders who would possibly like to join me on future rides, check in on the NH-AMC cycling activities page, where I plan to post my rides. Of course, you may also find some other interesting rides and activities posted there as well: http://amc-nh.org/calendar/activities.php
While I would encourage you to join the NH-AMC for their modest annual membership fee, most AMC activities are open non-members. Many of the activities, such as my future dirt rides are free, and only require signing a liability waiver. Hope to see you out there soon.

If the weather outlook for next Sat looks good, I'll probably try it again. I'll check the weather forecast on Wed. BTW, I went out yesterday afternoon after the roads had a chance to dry out. The roads are in surprisingly good shape. Here is a photo of the northern end of the Peterborough bike path from a few days ago:  Hope to see you soon.20180426_143239.jpg

@bobknh. I saw in a different discussion that you're the same "young" age as me. There's hope. 👍I'm not far from you in North Central MA and might he interested. I've been cycling for years but gravel only since December. I'm not having bar problems but I am still waiting for my Brooks to break in. 😊

Hi - so far, despite rain on Thurs- Fri, weather for Sat. looks good. Our roads dry out fast around here. But, there are plenty of washed out sections, pot holes, and nasty 1-2" gravel to keep you alert. Stay tuned.

Hi Bob,
I will be in Waterbury VT for the Gravel Grinder this weekend but am following your post.  Thanks for the picture of the Peterborough rail trail.  I think...I passed by part of this last weekend when I was riding in Francestown/Deering area?  Roads now are great, hard packed and no bugs...yet. Hi Cliffy - I ride and hike frequently in the Deering Valley Francestown area. That road looks very familiar - northern section of Pleasant Pond - or perhaps County road in Deering? I'll be leading my first ride this AM, which will take in a few roads in Francestown. I'm hoping to lead more AMC rides in the coming weeks - probably on Sat. mornings. I'll certainly be heading further north to the roads you mentioned. Thanks for the pic. BTW, the warm weather is delightful - but the black flies are back! use your bug spray!
